MSP NFL RULES
OVERVIEW
- MSP NFL is a season long pool that’s main goal is for players to have the best cumulative score for the season
- A weekly prize is awarded to the best score of the week (see Weekly Tiebreakers)
- Prizes are awarded for the top 8 finishers. Amounts are based on the number of participants
- After the regular season there will be a playoff that will lead to two players participating in the Super Bowl with both players being awarded prizes and the Super Bowl winner also receives free entry for the next season
MAKING PICKS
- Players may choose any of the games during a given week with the following requirements:
- All players can choose any number of games but must pick a minimum of 4 games
- All players must designate of of their picks as their Pick Of the Week (POW) which is worth 2 points instead of 1
- All players must pick Monday Night Football (MNF) or in weeks without a Monday Night Football game or 2 Monday Night Football games, the last game of the week will be designated the Mandatory Game
- All players must select a point total for Monday Night Football (or the Mandatory Game)
POINT SYSTEM
- For every correct pick players receive 1 point
- Every incorrect pick players lose 1 point
- The POW (Pick Of the Week) is worth 2 (2 points for a win or lose 2 points for a loss)
- The MNF (Monday Night Football or last game of the week) total points is only used to determine the prize winner if 2 or more players have a tie score and all tied players have the same POW and MNF Result. All players receive shared credit for a weekly win even if they do not win the prize. The MNF point total has no bearing on anything except to determine the weekly prize winner in case of a tie
WEEKLY TIEBREAKERS
- The first tiebreaker is POW result for each tied player
- If the tied players both have the same POW result, the 2nd tie breaker is MNF result
- The 3rd tiebreaker is MNF total points. If two players have an equal amount of total points, with one (or more) choosing over the actual total and one (or more) choosing under the actual total, those who chose under the total receive the prize (or share of the prize if more than one player is tied after the preceding tiebreakers).
- Any player who qualified for the 3rd tiebreaker share credit for Weeks Won. Weeks Won comes into play for season seeding.
SEASON TIEBREAKERS
- Final season standings and seeding are important for prizes and playoff seeding
- The first tiebreaker is number of POW wins
- The second tiebreaker is number of MNF wins
- The third tiebreaker is number of Weeks Won
- If two players are still tied after the first 3 tiebreakers, it goes back to Week 18 POW results, then Week 17 POW results, etc. until one player has won their POW while the other tied player has lost.
PLAYOFFS
- There is a playoff tournament during the NFL playoffs. The top four seeds (1st through 4th overall) have a Bye during Wild Card Weekend. 5th through 20th overall will play in a one week competition. Anyone who has the same final score as the 20th position is eligible to participate in Wild Card Weekend.
- The top 4 scores will advance to the next round to have individual match-ups with the top 4 seeds. The tiebreakers are as follows POW (win takes precedence over loss) and final seeding. YOU ONLY NEED TO PICK ONE GAME AND HAVE A POW. Of course, in the Wild Card Round, it would seem foolish to not pick all 4 games, but it is not mandatory.
- Starting the weekend of the Divisional Playoffs, the 1st seed will take on the lowest remaining seed, the 2nd seed will take on the 2nd lowest remaining seed and so on. The winners continue on to the Conference Championships and then the winners of the Conference Championships advance to the Super Bowl. In the Super Bowl, Over/Under lines are added as well as the spread to make it a true competition.
